"I wanted to share with everyone one of the reasons the Library was started. Mountshayne Library was made to house my grandfather's extensive book collection. Although I was not very close to him when I was younger, I got to know him better in his later years. I listened to his extraordinary stories about his time at Bristol University in the 1950s, where he studied Chemistry, and his adventures travelling around Europe.
While setting up the Library, I had to clear out some clutter to start filming. During this process, I stumbled upon an old stamp book containing film camera photos. To my surprise, the images were from when my grandfather was around the same age as me. They showed him with his friends at Bristol University and many with his parents on our farm. By working out when they were taken, I estimated the photos to be from 1952, when my grandfather graduated, confirming his stories. You can see these photos in the post.
The Library continues to stand as a testament to his love of literature and his dedication to education, and I hope to show this by carrying on his creativity in my own unique way.
Andy."
